PM Modi should visit Manipur, control violence there instead of giving sermons to paid audience in US: Uddhav

Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the violence in Manipur and dared PM Modi to visit the state and control the ongoing trouble there instead of going to the US to “give sermons to a paid audience

Addressing party functionaries at Sena (UBT)’s statewide convention in Mumbai, Uddhav said: “I came to know that Prime Minister Modi is going to America, but he is not ready to go to Manipur. You are a Vishwaguru? You are going there to give sermons to a paid audience in America, but a state in my country is burning. You say that you went to stop the war between Russia and Ukraine. If you want to prove that these stories are true, then please calm down the people of Manipur and prove that the stories are true. First you just go to Manipur and see if the people of Manipur listen to you or not.”

Uddhav said he could take away the BJP’s arrogance of power. “If you want to show your arrogance of power so much, then you should go to Manipur and show it there. Send your ED, CBI, Income Tax officers there in Manipur and see if they manage to come back from there. The people are out of control in Manipur,” he said.

Thackeray also slammed Union Home Minister Amit Shah by referring to him as “Afzal Khan” and taking a dig that despite his visit to Manipur, the violence did not abate as the people refused to listen to him.

“Amit Shah came here and asked, what is my opinion about Uniform Civil Code (UCC). In introducing the Uniform Civil Code (in the country) we support you. But read the information before introducing the Uniform Civil Code. Make it a law. But before that tell Hindus what problems or issues they will have to face after that,” the Sena leader added.

“You talk about UCC, but you cannot ban cow slaughter across the country uniformly. Each state has a different law regarding the ban on cow slaughter. In Tripura, your leaders say we eat beef. In Goa and many other states it is not banned,” Uddhav pointed out.

He also took a swipe at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over the advertisement row last week. “Devendra ji, your situation is very bad! You are being insulted, but neither can you say anything nor can you bear it (the pain), just because there is an order from high command,” Uddhav said.
