BSF fires at cattle smugglers along India-Bangladesh border, arrests one

 


least five cattle smugglers were injured after Border Security Force (BSF) troops opened fire to foil a smuggling attempt along the India-Bangladesh border in Bengal's Nadia district. The incident took place near the Ichamati border outpost in Nadia.

During the clashes, the smugglers hurled bombs, pelted stones and attacked the security forces with local weapons, following which the troops opened fire in retaliation, injuring at least five cattle smugglers. One of them has been arrested by the BSF. 


Speaking about the incident, BSF officials said that the soldiers were attacked by the cattle smugglers with crude bombs and other local weapons, forcing the troops to open fire. One of the injured smugglers was arrested as he tried to escape to Bangladesh, the official added.Senior
