IITG Prof Tamarapalli on how to crack GATE, IIT-JAM: USTM workshop

 The Department of Chemistry,University of Science & Technology Meghalaya today hosted a highly informative and

insightful talk by Professor Venkatesh Tamarapalli, Head Department of Computer Science

and Engineering, IIT Guwahati on the topic of "Popularization of competitive examination:

GATE and IIT-JAM". Professor Tamarapalli, an esteemed faculty member in the CSE

department at IIT Guwahati, has an extensive background in mentoring students and helping

them succeed in these competitive examinations.




The program began with felicitation of Professor Venkatesh Tamarapalli and a brief

introduction given by Dr. Golam Mohiuddin, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry,

USTM. The talk aimed to provide valuable guidance and strategies for students aspiring to

clear the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) and the Joint Admission Test (JAM)

for M.Sc. and Integrated M.Sc. and PhD, which are pivotal for admission into prestigious

institutions in India like the IITs, IISERs, NITs for postgraduate studies as well as abroad like

NTU, NUS Singapore, TU Munich, Germany and so on.



Professor Tamarapalli began by emphasizing the significance of understanding the format,

syllabus, examination and question pattern of both GATE and IIT-JAM. He elaborated on the

importance of reviewing previous years' question papers and syllabus documents provided by

the respective examination authorities. This insight is crucial for students to create a focused

and effective study plan. Time management was a key theme throughout the talk.

Professor Tamarapalli shared strategies to optimize study schedules, allocate time to different

subjects, and balance preparation for both GATE and IIT-JAM. He also shared insights into
