Patna: Youth dies after being burnt alive by shopkeeper over theft allegation


 In a shocking incident, a youth was burnt alive by a shopkeeper in Bihar's Patna over alleged theft charges. The victim worked at a mobile repair shop and the owner had accused him of stealing Bluetooth from the shop. The infuriated shopkeeper thrashed the victim and burnt him alive by sprinkling petrol. The incident happened on December 18 near IOC road under Beur police station limits.

The victim, identified as Vikas, was rushed to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) but succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

The incident sparked ire and the family members of the victim blocked the IOC road and created a ruckus. Police officials of the Beur police station rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the protestors and brought the situation under control. Police assured the kin of the victim that they would solve the case and nab the accused at the earliest.

Following the incident, police recorded a statement of the victim and an investigation has been launched to arrest the accused. The officials, who are tight-lipped on the matter, said that they are probing the case from all the angles to nab the accused.
