CLOSING CEREMONY OF BSF “SWARN JAYANTI SHAURYA PRADDARSHANI YATRA” TO COMMEMORATE 50TH YEARS OF BANGALADESH LIBERATION WAR-1971


 In the context of Golden Jubilee Year of Bangladesh Liberation War 1971, India’s victory over Pakistan and unforgettable contribution of Border Security Force in the victory, the ‘Swarn Jayanti Shaurya Pradarshani Yatra’ having Mobile Photo Exhibition was started on 03rd Dec’ 2021 from South Bengal Frontier HQ Kolkata. It had covered around 1,400-km up to Shillong. The Main motto of this Yatra is to inculcate spirit of patriotism in youths and also to spread awareness about the contribution of BSF & Mukti Bahini in 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.


            

             During the programme, documentaries, Videos, Photographs of Bangladesh Liberation War 1971 highlighting role of BSF and Mukti Bahini in Bangladesh liberation were screened. Moreover, BSF Brass Band also performed patriotic songs echoing  sense of commitments towards nation  mesmerized the spectators.  The Mobile Photo Exhibition was placed at Dawki on 22.12.2021, Cherapunji on 23.12.2021 and culminated at BSF Campus Mawpat, Shillong. Large number of youth and civil public witnessed the programme and highly appreciated the role of BSF & Mukti Bahini in ‘Bangladesh Liberation War 1971’ and also thanked BSF for ensuring security to the nation.


The Closing Ceremony of said Mobile Photo Exhibition was organized at BSF Camp Mawpat, Shillong, in the presence of Sh. Inderjeet Singh Rana, IG, BSF Meghalaya as Chief Guest. In his address, he proudly depicts the active role of Border Security Force in the Bangladesh Liberation War-1971 with West-Pakistan. BSF Jawans who gave supreme sacrifice during 1971 War were recognised/decorated by the Govt. of India by giving Gallantry Awards.

          

           Meghalaya has also its own role to play during 1971 war. A major battles was fought at Kilapara located near Indo-Bangladesh Border in West Garo Hills. In this battle, 09 jawans of BSF laid their lives for nation while fighting in support of Bangladesh. A “War Memorial Kilapara”, in the memory of martyred soldiers, is constructed where martyrs are remembered for their sacrifices.

          

           IG Meghalaya Frontier also conveyed his sincere thanks to all the BSF participants, media persons and local citizens to be part of this remarkable journey of Swarn Jayanti Shaurya Pradarshani Yatra’  from West Bengal to Meghalaya.
