Observation of International Day of Older Persons 

 Shillong, October 1, 2021: The District Social Welfare Officer, East Khasi Hills District today observed the ‘International Day of Older Persons’ at Ramakrishna Mission, Sohra in which Smti J. Umdor, Block Development Officer, Shella - Bholaganj C&RD Block graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The programme was attended by senior citizens of Sohra and its surrounding villages.

            In her brief speech, Smti Umdor urged the people to respect senior citizens where ever they are as older people need the support of people and said that this day was observed as ‘International Day of Older Persons’ to remind all of their duties and responsibilities toward older people.

            The highlights of the day are Free Medical & Health Check Up Camp organised by the office of the District Social Welfare Officer, East Khasi Hills District in collaboration with the office of the District Medical & Health Officer, East Khasi Hills District and the Community Health Centre, Sohra and distribution of gifts to all senior citizens who attended the programme.
