Fisheries Summer Meet, 2023


 Shillong, July 13, 2023: The Fisheries Summer Meet, 2023 was organised by the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India at Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu on the 10th and 11th of July, 2023 in concurrence with the National Fish Farmers’ Day, 2023 which is celebrated on the 10th of July every year. The event includes Policy & Technical deliberations in the fisheries sector, exhibition on Fisheries Start-Ups, Fish FPOs, Fish Cooperatives etc. along with the virtual inauguration of all Fishery projects across the country assisted under PMMSY by the Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Shri Parshottam Rupala.  

Meghalaya Fisheries Minister, Shri A. L. Hek led the delegation from Meghalaya accompanied by Director of Fisheries, Smti A L Mawlong to attend the two day event. On this occasion, a total number of 176 fishery related projects all over India including 16 projects in Meghalaya to the tune of Rs. 4.3 crores investment across the State in the districts of Eastern West Khasi Hills, East Jaintia Hills, West Jaintia Hills, Ri Bhoi, North Garo Hills, South Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills have been virtually inaugurated by the Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Shri Parshottam Rupala in the presence of Meghalaya Fisheries Minister, Shri A. L. Hek.
