City Police busts a Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) Scam


 Guwahati, 22.02.2022: The Special Squad and an EGPD team from Basistha PS busted a Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) scam after it intercepted a Bolero vehicle (registration ML07B7998) following specific Intel. A thorough search of the vehicle led to recovery of a purported  bundle of FICN.


The receiver of the pack - one Champion R Sangma (46), resident of Songsak in Meghalaya - said that the pack is worth ₹15,00,000/- However, the pack had only ₹10,000/- in original currency notes & the rest was white paper. The receiver said that he paid ₹3,50,000/- to one Poresh Das & one Bijay Das at Kamrup Petrol Pump for ₹15,00,000/- worth of FICN. 


Two others - Gohanch Sangma (36) from Songsak and Cherian Momin (28) from Tura in Meghalaya - were also arrested in this matter.
