44 ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS NUTRITION , DIET TRAINING & EXTENDS “HEALERS CONCLAVE” EFFORTS AMONG LOCALS


 On third day of Assam Rifles healers conclave in Tamenglong, an awareness cum interactive session on lifestyle diseases was organised by 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 sector/ IGAR (East) in collaboration with Medica North Bengal Clinic, Siliguri. Ms Anita kumari, senior dietician, was the resource person and coordinated by Commandant SS Shah, CMO of the unit. 


    Ms Anita virtually addressed the attendees at Tamenglong and highlighted various aspects related to healthy diet and nutrition. She stressed that these days most of the people consume junk & oily food which is very unhealthy. All must focus on importance of Balanced diet.

A balanced diet is important because organs and tissues need proper nutrition to work effectively. Without good nutrition, body is more prone to disease, infection, fatigue and poor performance. She also highlighted about importance of different components of food- sugars, fats, carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals, etc. The importance of each component was explained, the inclusion of each component in daily diet  was also well disseminated among the participants. The importance of fruits & vegetables was stressed upon, along with consumption of healthy drinks which are not aerated or having alcohol.

As a precautionary measure against common diseases and to build strong immunity, senior dietician impressed upon ways to maintain a balanced diet, follow the correct mealtime and  be physically active. At the end of lecture an healthy interactive session was held with the troops to clarify their doubts.

  Extending its “Healers Conclave” efforts among the local populace, 44 Assam Rifles , today also organised door to door vaccination campaign at Makui village in collaboration with PHC, T Waichong of  KPI dist hlth society. Dr Neipichong Doungel was incharge of vaccination drive. The aim of this vaccination drive was to contribute against fight to eradicate COVID. The villagers were motivated to adhere to the guidelines of COVID 19 for restricting community spread of virus and were encouraged to undertake COVID vaccination.  The locals were also sensitized about the myths of vaccination complication which are being circulated in the society through various social media platforms.
