YUVA UTSAV India @2047
The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) conducted a one-day District Level
YUVA UTSAV India @2047 at Nativity Higher Secondary School Mawkyrwat on 19 th
May 2023.
The programme held under the theme, “Panch Pran” was organised with a view to
develop India, to remove any trace of colonial mindset, to take pride in our own
heritage and legacy, to promote unity and solidarity and to inculcate a sense of duty
amongst citizens.
The programme included different activities like Young Artist-Painting, Young
Writers- Poetry, Mobile Photography, Declamation Contest and Cultural Festival and
was attended and participated by students from different schools within the district.
Youth in the age groups of 15 to 29 years were allowed to participate at the District,
State and National Level.
The main objectives of the programme is to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in
the spirit of Yuva Shaktis, to spread the ideals and values of India’s Freedom
Struggle and to generate appreciation of the diverse spiritual and cultural heritage
amongst the masses.
Shillong MP Vincent H. Pala who attended the programme as chief guest
appreciated the organization for conducting the event which will benefit the youth. He
said that the organization has in its 51 years of service has cater to the needs of
youth and is of immense contribution to the society.
Pointing out that youth plays an important role in the society in nation building and
development, Pala said youth should adapt to the changes by changing their outlook
and mindsets so as to bring about a change in the society. He stressed on the needs
to renew afresh the important ideals and values of the society and be important
assets of the country.
“Youth is full of potential and enthusiasm so there is a need for proper education and
skill development of the youth so that they can prosper in the right direction”, he
added.
Pala said that youth should be responsible and should not indulge themselves in
useless things but they should contribute something towards the society. He
stressed on the needs of maintaining discipline by imbibing the good qualities of life
He also advised them to be careful in the choice of friends, to inculcate good habits,
qualities and values as these will help them develop and prosper in life.
Mawkyrwat MDC, Carness Sohshang, Damang Syngkon, District Sports Officer,
South West Khasi Hills District and P. Wanniang Headman of Sohkhyllam village
spoke on the occasion.
