Man electrocuted atop train as he waves flag in honour of his caste leader

The 64th death anniversary of Dalit leader Immanuel Sekaran was observed by several political party leaders, including Udhayanidhi Stalin, who visited Immanuel Sekaran’s memorial in Paramakudi from DMK and former minister RB Udhayakumar from AIADMK.

Ramanathapuram district administration had earlier imposed section 144 from September 9 to October 30 as Guru Puja Emmanuel Sekaran was observed on September 11, while Guru Puja of Pasumpon Muthuramalainga Thevar fell on October 30, which had led to unrest in the district previously.

Nearly 7,000 police personnel were deployed to check the law and order and, in the meantime, a group of youngsters who had come to pay their respects to Immanuel Sekaran climbed over the train which was on the platform. The train was ready to leave for Trichy.

Despite being asked by the people on the platform to get down, the youngsters didn’t pay heed to the warning. After climbing the train, one of them waved a flag which came in contact with high tension wire above the railway tracks.

Moments later, the youth had been caught in a powerful spark and was thrown off the train. The youngster identified as Mukesh was rushed to Paramakudi Hospital with severe fire burns and then taken to a hospital in Madurai.
